  • Superb Taste and Texture: With their firm texture and creamy flavour, these potatoes are perfect for creating crispy chips, golden roasts, and delicious bakes.

  • High Yield: This variety is known for its heavy crop of large, uniform tubers, providing a plentiful supply for storage or immediate use.

  • Excellent Storage: Pentland Dell potatoes store exceptionally well, retaining their quality for months when kept in the right conditions.

  • Disease Resistant: Good resistance to common potato diseases ensures a reliable and healthy crop.

Growing Instructions:

Plant maincrop potatoes from March. Before planting, 'chit' the seed potatoes by setting them out in a cool, bright position (around 10°C / 50°F) to allow them to sprout.

When growing maincrop potatoes in the ground, avoid planting in soil where potatoes have been grown for two consecutive years to reduce the risk of disease. Prepare the planting area in a sheltered position with full sun on moist, well-drained soil, and dig in plenty of well-rotted manure. Space the seed potatoes 45cm (18") apart in rows set 75cm (2', 6") apart. Plant them into 10cm (4") deep trenches and backfill with soil. Once shoots reach 20cm (8"), mound soil around the shoots, leaving just a few centimetres exposed. Repeat this earthing-up process after another three weeks.

For limited space, consider growing potatoes in bags. Fill an 8-litre potato bag with quality compost mixed with well-rotted manure, leaving some room at the top. Carefully plant a single chitted tuber with the shoots facing upwards at a depth of 12cm (5") from the soil surface. Place the bags in a sunny area and water regularly to keep the compost moist.

By following these guidelines, you'll soon enjoy a bountiful harvest of Pentland Dell Seed Potatoes, perfect for all your favourite potato-based dishes!
